10 injured as AL, Jubo League men clash
At least ten people were injured in a clash between the activists of Awami League (AL) and Jubo League in the town on Monday night.
Locals said two groups--one led by AL leader Anis of Akua Morolpara area and the other by Jubo League leader Shahinoor of adjacent Ramkrishna Mission Road area--locked in a clash at around 11:00pm over control of Ramkrishna Mission Road area, leaving at least ten people from both sides injured.
They used sharp weapons and blasted crude bombs during the clash that continued for an hour.
Of the injured, two were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital while the rest given first aid.
Being informed, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. They later arrested five Jubo League men from Akua Morolpara area for their alleged involvement in the clash.
Contacted, Officer-in-Charge Abu Mohammad Fazlul Karim of Sadar Police Station said the arrestees were yesterday produced in a court that sent them to jail.
