​2 get life for killing mother, son

A Narayanganj court today sentenced two people to death and seven years’ imprisonment to another in a murder case filed over the killing of a mother and her son in 2011.

The three were convicted of raping a woman, 25, and then killing her and her six-year-old son in Araihazar upazila of the district on March 5 in 2011.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Miazi Shahidul Alam Chowdhury passed the order this morning, reports our Narayanganj correspondent, quoting public prosecutor Abdur Rahim.

The death-row convicts are: Abul Hossain alias Koshai Kashem and Dulal Hossain. Babul Hossain, who was jailed for seven years, is currently in hiding.

The unidentified woman was seeking financial help in the area. The convicts gave her Tk 10 and then lured her to a remote cremation ground where they raped her. Afterwards they strangled the woman with her scarf and hit her son in head. They dumped the bodies at the Darigaon graveyard.

When the bodies came to the notice of locals, they informed the police, who filed a case with Araihazar Police Station later.
