DNCC launches handwashing facilities at 25 key points
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) today launched a handwash campaign for pedestrians in the city with a view to contain the spread of coronavirus infection.
Atiqul Islam, recently elected mayor of DNCC and its panel mayor Zamal Mostafa, jointly inaugurated the campaign in Gulshan this morning.
To make the campaign a success, DNCC set up handwashing facilities with adequate supply of water and soaps at 25 points -- in front of different establishments, markets and by the roads including Rabindra Saroni, Rajlaxmi Complex, Khilkhet Bus Stand, Mirpur Sony Cinema Hall and other places across the city.
The campaign will continue for at least a month with the support of zonal executive officers of the city corporation.
After inaugurating the campaign, Atqul Islam said there is no alternative to washing hands to prevent the spread and infection of the coronavirus.
The mayor said DNCC's newly constructed market at Mohakhali will be used for coronavirus patients if necessary.
