Cops use water cannon to disperse workers in Badda
Police today used water cannon to disperse workers who blocked a road in Badda of the capital for half an hour demanding arrears.
Workers of Toba Group, a sister concern of Tazreen Fashion Limited, blocked Kuril Bishwa road around 10:00am, said Abdul Jalil, officer-in-charge of Badda Police Station.
The blockade creates heavy traffic congestion on the both sides of the road, the OC said.
The workers claimed that they were yet to get the salaries of last three months.
On information, law enforcers rushed to the spot around 10:30am and dispersed the agitating workers from the road firing water cannon, the police official said.
No casualty was reported in the incident, the police official said.
Tazreen Fashions’ owner Delwar Hossain and its Chairperson Mahmuda Akhter are now in jail in the cases filed in connection with the deadly fire at the factory in Ashulia in November 2012, which killed 112 workers.
