CNG stations to stay open 24 hrs
CNG refueling stations across the country would remain open round the clock from July 23 to August 1 to facilitate the journey of home-bound people during the Eid-ul-Fitr.
The decision was made in a meeting of the power and energy ministry on Wednesday, said Petrobangla in a statement yesterday.
Usually, CNG filling stations remain closed for 4 hours from 5:00pm everyday for the shortage of gas supply amid fast depletion of current reserves.
This 4-hour closure at the CNG stations, also known as gas rationing system, was in use for the last three years, said Zakir Hossain Nayon, president of Bangladesh CNG Filling Station and Conversion Workhop Owners Association.
There are 585 CNG stations across the country, consuming 5 percent of the daily production of about 2,300 million cubic feet of gas, according to Petrobangla.
