Fish trader, fraud doctor jailed for treating, operating on patients in Pirojpur

A mobile court jailed two fraud doctors and fined three private clinics for letting them treat patients at Mathbaria upazila of Pirojpur.

Executive Magistrate Pizush Kumar Chowdhury sentenced Golam Mostafa, 40, and Amir Hosen Bhuiyan, 45, to three and six months of jail respectively for posing as doctors and conducting treatment and operations on patients, reports our local correspondent.

A team of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-8) had conducted a drive and arrested Golam Mostafa last night.

The mobile court also fined Mahima Clinic and Diagnostic Centre Tk 30,000, Hazi Abdur Razzak Surgical Clinic and Diagnostic Centre Tk 10,000 and Saudi Prabasi Hospital Tk 15,000, the magistrate said.

Golam Mostafa, a fish trader, is the owner of Mahima clinic where he used to appoint fake doctors to treat patients, Pizush said.

The fish trader sometimes took part in the operations himself, he added.

On the other hand, fraud doctor Amir Hosen Bhuiyan used to work at Hazi Abdur Razzak Surgical Clinic and Saudi Prabasi Hospital.

All the three clinics used to appoint fake doctors and cheat general people who came for treatment, the magistrate said.
