Young coders develop app solutions on social problems
BRAC University has organised a competition titled “BRACathon” of developing useful mobile applications with the slogan “Technology for Social Good”.
Twenty seven teams from different universities and technology start-ups including EMPOWER and Miyaki participated in the hackathon held on Friday and Saturday at BRAC University where they were given 11 problems including TB prevention, micro-learning, microfinance data access, and bKash user interface. Seven teams made it to the final and were given USD 3000 each yesterday in order to finalise their apps.
The jury board members included senior management from BRAC, representatives from DFID and Australian High Commission, faculties from BUET and BRAC University.
