Two schoolgirls saved from early marriage
Two schoolgirls, aged 13 years, were saved from early marriages at different villages in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur on Thursday afternoon.
Marriage-buster and President Sahida Akhter Sorna of "Sreepur Youth Forum" of Plan Bangladesh was the first to inform Abdul Aziz, a union parishad member in Gazipur, of the marriage plans.
Being informed by Aziz, Sreepur police first went to the house of one of the two ninth-graders where wedding ceremony was already being held. They convinced the parents and made them vow against marrying off their daughter before she reaches 18.
Later, they went to the other house and convinced the parents, who were also preparing to marry off their young daughter soon.
