SC verdict on BSMMU doctors May 21
The apex court verdict on the appeals of 138 doctors challenging the illegality of their appointment to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University will be delivered on May 21.
A five-member bench of Supreme Court’s Appellate Division, headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, set the date today after concluding hearing of five appeal pleas.
In 2010, the High Court had ruled that the appointment process of these doctors were illegal because of some anomalies.
Later, on September 4 last year, the Supreme Court allowed the doctors to move an appeal petition against the verdict of the High Court. The hearing was concluded today.
The verdict will decide whether the doctors can remain in service.
