Road crashes kill eight
Eight people were killed and 56 others killed in separate road accidents in the country in last two days.
Our Faridpur correspondent reports, two children were killed and 14 other people injured when an oncoming bus of Osman Paribahan hit a human hauler and a rickshaw van.
The dead were Sumi Biswas, 12, daughter of Monindo Biswas, and Somapti Chokider, 12, daughter of Shuvas Chokider of Basuria, of Tungipara upazila. The injured were rushed to Gopalganj General Hospital.
Our Chittagong staff correspondent reports, two pedestrians were killed and another was injured when a Kaptai-bound bus knocked them down in Chittagong city's Quaish area under Hathazari Police Station yesterday (Tuesday).
The dead were Arfa Abedin Khan, and Niloy Sarkar, both 18 and second-year HSC students of Quiash College. Injured Md Hussain was admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Protesting the incident, locals tried to block Chittagong-Kaptai road but police brought the situation under control.
The bus driver, Syamol Mohajon, was arrested
A Bagerhat correspondent adds, two passengers were killed and 40 others injured after a bus plunged into a roadside ditch at Bokultala in Kachua upazila of Bagerhat-Pirjpur highway yesterday.
One of the dead was identified as Monira Begum, 35, of Rahdkathi village under Nesarabad of Pirojpur district. Locals, police and fire fighters rescued the passengers.
Our Dinajpur correspondent adds, two persons were killed and another was injured as a truck hit their motorbike on Dinajpur-Panchagarh highway at Doshmile in Kaharol upazila on Monday evening.
The dead were Nasim Ali, 24, of village Boroil, and Chandan Roy, 22, of village Bonkali in Rangpur Sadar upazila.
