N’ganj 7-murder: Lawyers of three accused end argument
The lawyers of three accused including Nur Hossain and sacked Rab official MM Rana concluded their argument in seven-murder case in a Narayanganj court yesterday.
The defence counsel claimed that the accused -- Nur Hossain, his driver Mizanur Rahman and Rana -- are innocent.
Public prosecutor Wajed Ali Khokon said the state was able to present all proofs including planning of the murders, abduction and dumping of the victims against 35 accused in two cases in connection with the incident.
The court will hear such argument from the defence and prosecution today too, he said.
Two cases were filed by slain lawyer Chandan Sarker’s son-in-law Bijoy Kuman Paul and murdered Nazrul Islam’s wife Selina Islam Beauty, accusing 35 persons. Of them, 23 were arrested and the rest are on the run.
The bodies of seven people including Narayanganj City Corporation Councillor Nazrul and Chandan were found floating on the river on April 30, 2014 three days after their abduction.
