Transport owners to operate buses tomorrow despite hartal
Transport owners have decided to operate their vehicles in the capital tomorrow despite BNP calling a daylong hartal on the day.
“We don’t accept the hartal,” Khandaker Enayet Ullah, secretary general of Bangladesh Road Transport Owners' Association, told The Daily star tonight.
“The elections to two city corporations were held today in a democratic manner. Fearing defeat in the polls, BNP has called the hartal to create anarchy,” Enayet Ullah added.
The decision of the association came soon after BNP called the daylong hartal -- from dawn till dusk -- tomorrow in Dhaka city, rejecting the results of Dhaka North and South City Corporation elections.
At a press conference in the party’s Nayapaltan central office tonight, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced that they will observe the dawn-to-dusk hartal tomorrow.
