Senior ASP 'beaten to death': Mind Aid Hospital director arrested
Dr Muhammad Niaz Morshed, director of Mind Aid Psychiatry and De-Addiction Hospital, has been arrested in connection with the death of Senior ASP Anisul Karim, who was allegedly beaten to death by the hospital's staff on Monday.
Mrittonjay Dey Sajal, additional deputy commissioner of Tejgaon Division Police, said Dr Niaz was arrested from National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital last night.
Walid Hossain, deputy commissioner (Media) of DMP, said Dr Niaz is paralysed and being treated at the hospital.
Police have appealed to the court to show him arrested in the case, the DC said, adding that he will continue his treatment there under police custody.

Yesterday, 10 staffers of the hospital were arrested and placed on seven-day remand each.
According to the case document, the hospital was run by Dr Niaz and four others -- Abdullah Al Mamun, Sakhawat Hossain, Sazzad Amin and Fatema Khatun Moyna.
At a press briefing yesterday, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Tejgaon Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Harun-Ur-Rashid said action would be taken against all those involved in the incident, including the hospital management.
Faruk Mollah, Inspector of Adabar Police Station and also investigation officer of the case, told The Daily Star last night that Dr Niaz was under their surveillance.
"He is not physically stable. We will inform the court in this regard," the IO said.
