No headway in N'ganj four-murder probe
Five days since bodies of four youths were found with bullet wounds in Narayanganj, no headway has been made in the murder case.
Family members of the victims are blaming law enforcing agency members for the murders, claiming that the victims were picked up from one of the victim's homes at the district's Gausia, one day before the murder.
Another youth, Liton, relative of one of the victims who was also picked up at that time, is still missing.
The deceased are: Jahirul Islam, 24; Faruk Hossain, 35; and Sabuj Sarder, 24, from Dharmagram village in Pabna Sadar upazila. Another victim, Lutfor Molla, 42, lived in Dhaka.
Some people identifying themselves as detectives picked up the former three along with Jahirul's cousin Liton Hossain from Faruk's house in Gausia of Bhulta, alleged Faruk's stepfather Jamal Pramanik.
Their families, however, have no idea about their links with the other dead, Lutfor Molla, identified a microbus driver from the capital's Rampura area.
“My husband was picked up by some people who introduced them as members of the detective branch of police on Friday, and I provided food to my husband at Bhulta Police Station next day. But I found his dead body on Sunday,” said Taslima Akhtar, wife of Faruk Hossain.
She said Liton was also picked up at that time but is still traceless.
Refuting all allegations, Inspector of Bhulta Police Outpost Rafiqul Haque said there were many people at the police station in a murder case on the day, but Faruk was not there.
A murder and an arms cases were field in this regard, said Inspector of Araihajar Police Station Md Rafiqul Islam, adding he got the charge of investigation in the case after four days. “As there was no headway in probe, I was given charge of the investigation on October 24. The investigation is going on,” he said.
About missing youth Liton, he said the family's allegation is not true. No general dairy was filed in this regard, he added.
Meanwhile, a three-member probe committee, formed to investigate the allegations of the family members, visited the spot of the incident on Thursday. Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) of Narayanganj, Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun, one of the members of the probe committee, said they have just started the investigation and there is no such progress in this regard.
