Man arrested for killing ex-wife
Police arrested a man in Halishahar area yesterday afternoon, just four hours after his ex-wife died from a knife attack, at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
Arrestee Rabiul Islam, 45, during primary interrogation, confessed to have stabbed his former wife Nazma Akter, 36, on Sunday night while she was returning home from work, said Mir Nurul Huda, officer-in-charge of EPZ Police Station.“Critically injured Nazma was rushed to CMCH where doctors declared her dead around 10am yesterday.”
Nazma worked at a readymade garment factory. Her and Rabiul's nearly 17-year marriage ended in divorce in August 2017; the couple has a 15-year-old son, the OC said.
Since their divorce, Nazma had repeatedly refused Rabiul's persistent approach to reunite, but he continued to “disturb” her, he added.
Nazma's body was sent to Chittagong Medical College morgue for autopsy and a case was filed with the police station.
