Kamal remanded again

Md Kamal, who was arrested in January last in connection with sexual assault on women at Dhaka University (DU) during the Pahela Baishakh celebration in 2015, was remanded again on Thursday for five days.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jakir Hossain Tipu gave the order responding to a plea filed by Inspector Md Abdur Razzak of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), seeking a 10-day remand.

On February 14, 2014, on the first day of Bangla year, some women were sexually harassed by a group of miscreants at Teacher-Student Centre in DU.

Police later filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act 2000.

Md Kamal was arrested on January 27 and put on a two-day remand by a Dhaka court.

Later, Judge of Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-3 Jayashri Samaddar ordered PBI for a reinvestigation into the case.
