Directorate of drug admin lab gets WHO accreditation
The National Control Laboratory (NCL) of the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) has received the accreditation of the World Health organization (WHO), said a press release yesterday.
This world-class accreditation, as the 51st laboratory in the world, will increase the reliance and acceptance of DGDA and pharmaceutical products worldwide.
It will enable the country to maintain better quality assurance system for safe and efficacious products, access donor funded procurement markets for Bangladeshi pharmaceuticals, and build confidence among many developed countries to import medicines from Bangladesh.
In Bangladesh, DGDA plays a vital role in the healthcare system by providing regulatory oversight of all medical products, including medicines, vaccines, blood products, traditional or herbal medicines and medical devices, said the press release.
The NCL of DGDA is the laboratory that ensures quality, safety and efficacy of medical devices.
