Law minister's meeting with SC judges moved to Nov 16
Law Minister Anisul Huq's meeting with judges of the Supreme Court over finalising disciplinary rules for lower court judges has been rescheduled for November 16.
The meeting, previously scheduled for today (Thursday), had to be rescheduled as ASSM Zahurul Haque, law and justice division secretary of the law ministry, is currently out of the country, Rezaul Karim, information and public relations officer of the ministry, told The Daily Star yesterday.
On November 5, the attorney general told reporters that Law Minister Anisul Huq may sit with the judges of the Appellate Division on Thursday [today] to resolve the issue of disciplinary rules for lower court judges.
Chief Justice SK Sinha wanted to see that the rules curb the power of the president, said the AG. The government, therefore, is trying to resolve the issue through discussions with the SC and the law ministry, he added.
