DSHE orders all to comply with out of school coaching regulations
Nearly four years after announcing a policy restricting out of school coaching business in the country, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) yesterday ordered all concerned to comply with the policy.
It sent a letter, signed by Additional Director of DSHE Shakhawat Hossain Biswas, to its officials at regional, upazila and district levels yesterday, asking them to monitor the implementation of the policy issued in 2012.
"The policy was announced quite a long time ago and many perhaps forgot the matter. Through the letter we remind them of the implementation of the policy," said Shakhawat.
The education ministry announced the policy titled "Policy-2012 to stop teachers from doing coaching business at educational institutions."
According to the policy, a teacher can teach a maximum of 10 students of other institutions a day with prior permission from the head of their institutions. He or she will have to notify their respective school heads of the students.
The policy also barred teachers from doing private tutoring activities during school hours.
The proposed draft of Education Act-2016 too stipulates that the government will take necessary measures to stop private tutoring and out of school coaching business.
The draft act includes provision of penalties for those violating the rules.
