Dhaka schoolgirl raped

A school girl was allegedly raped by a youth in Mirpur of Dhaka today.

The victim, a 10th grader and a resident of Mohammadpur in the city, alleged that one Prince, 25, raped her at an apartment after she went to meet him there.

Police said a love affair developed between them through the social media platform Facebook.

She is now undergoing treatment at the gynaecology department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), said Sub-Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.

She went out of home for her school around 11:30 am, the victim’s brother told The Daily Star. “Later, I received a phone call from a private clinic of Kalyanpur that my sister was abandoned there in critical condition,” he said.

Bhuiyan Mahbub Hasan, officer-in-charge of Mirpur Police Station, said that they have heard about the incident and police were trying to nab the culprit.
