50 hurt including six cops in clash over land
At least 50 people were injured including six cops in a clash between two groups over land dispute in Badhaghat area of Sylhet yesterday.
The injured twenty two, including six cops, were admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital and seven were taken to private clinics. Others were treated with first aid.
According to the eyewitness and police sources, an altercation started between the supporters of Advocate Nure Alam Siraji, of Sunatola village, and Samsul Islam Tunu, Mogolgaon UP chairman, because of a long-standing feud over a land in the area.
Police rushed to the spot and fired 133 rubber bullets and eight teargas shells to control the situation, said Akther Hosain, officer-in-charge of the Jalalabad police.
A case was filed in this regard.
