150 students to visit China this month
A 150-member student delegation from Bangladesh will pay a two-week visit to Yunnan Province under the China-Bangladesh Youth Exchange Programme.
The visit is going to take place following Chinese President Xi Jinping's announcement during his visit to Bangladesh in 2016 that China will invite 600 Bangladeshi students to China during 2016-2020. This is the first visit that will begin from September 11.
The Chinese embassy in Dhaka organised the visit with cooperation from the Yunnan University in Kunming and Confucius Institutes in Dhaka with an objective to strengthen cultural and people-to-people exchanges and carry forward the friendship between the two countries.
Members of the delegation, drawn from various educational institutions will visit prominent cultural and historical sites, top educational institutions across the Yunnan Province and are expected to call on the prominent figures there.
Ahead of their departure, a flagging off ceremony was held at the Chinese embassy in Dhaka yesterday, where Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique attended as the chief guest. Chinese Ambassador in Dhaka Ma Mingqiang also spoke at the event.
