11 fake DB men arrested in Dhaka

Police last night arrested eleven fake members of Detective Branch (DB) of police from Sabujbagh area of Dhaka.

A team of DB conducted the drive around 1:00am and also recovered 3 vehicles, 3 foreign-made pistols, two pipe guns with three magazines, five DB jackets, a wireless set, five handcuffs and five-round of bullets, knives from their possession, said Muhammad Yousuf Ali, additional deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

Acting on a tip-off that a group of robbers in disguise of fake DB were taking preparation in Sabujbagh area, a team of detectives conducted a raid and arrested them, said DB Joint Commissioner Abdul Baten at a press briefing at DMPmedia centre on Mintoo road.

“Two cases were file with Sabujbagh Police Station in this connection,” he said.

They are being grilled to know more about their crimes, he said adding that generally these groups of criminals are involved in snatching in the night and their main targets are passengers, he added.
