Bangladesh Bank governor highlights teachers’ role in national prosperity at EWU event

Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Ahsan H. Mansur has underlined the importance of competent teachers in building a prosperous nation.
Speaking at a certificate awarding ceremony for East West University's (EWU) Teachers' Training Program on Teaching, Learning and Research, held at the Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery, Dr Mansur said educators were uniquely placed to shape skilled and effective citizens. He described teachers as "crucial national assets" whose knowledge and wisdom could be called upon to address the country's needs.
The event was chaired by Professor Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the EWU Board of Trustees and former governor of Bangladesh Bank. Praising the central bank's management under Dr Mansur's leadership, Professor Farashuddin expressed hope that the current governor would introduce an independent pay scale for the bank's employees and secure a constitutionally recognised position for the governor's office.
Professor Dr Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of EWU, Professor Dr M. Ashik Mosaddik, Pro Vice Chancellor, and Professor Dr Sufia Islam, Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), also addressed the audience.
Certificates were awarded to 34 faculty members who completed the training programme, which was jointly organised by IQAC and the EWU Center for Research and Training (EWUCRT). The ceremony was attended by a large number of faculty members and officials.
