Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has announced that 'mobile number portability' (MNP) service will begin at the end of this year.

MNP is a service that allows subscribers to switch operators by keeping their current numbers.

“An auction will be held on September 21 to determine the company that will provide the service,” BTRC chairman Shahjahan Mahmood said at a press conference today.

Subscribers will have to pay Tk 30 for this service and will take 90 days to take effect.
