The Daily Star presented the second ICT Awards in six categories at a gala event at Le Méridien Dhaka yesterday recognising and celebrating extraordinary achievements in the field of information and communication technology. The six categories are ICT Solution Provider of the Year (one for local market focus and another for international), E-Business of the Year, ICT Startup of the Year (two recipients), ICT Business Person of the Year and ICT Pioneer of the Year. The general criteria were the recipients should be registered in Bangladesh and in case of joint ventures, 50 percent of the ownership should belong to Bangladeshis. The event was held in partnership with Microsoft, Brac Bank, the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) and Le Méridien Dhaka. Renowned personalities attended the programme, which ended with a cultural performance.
