BYLC Leadership Workshop
for Media Professionals
Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC), the country's first leadership institute, organised a three-day workshop, titled “Leadership Development for the Next Generation of Media Professionals”, at BYLC headquarters from December 13 to15, 2013. The High Commission of Canada to Bangladesh supported the workshop.
A total of 27 university students and fresh graduates in the fields of media and journalism were selected for the workshop from a large pool of applicants. The workshop was designed to instil values of leadership, courage and ethical standards of journalism in the participants. It gave the participants opportunities for developing strong teamwork, critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills.
At the end of the workshop, Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Heather Cruden, hosted a graduation reception and networking event at her official residence where the participants received their certificates and got the opportunity of sharing their ideas with some of the leading professionals in the media. Manzoor Hasan, OBE, Chairperson of BYLC, was present at the programme as chief guest.
Daffodil University
in ACM-ICPC 2013
‘DIU_Primitive' -- a team from Daffodil International University (DIU) -- came first in ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) International Collegiate Programming Contest, Dhaka Region 2013, held at North South University on December 6, 2013.
A total of 110 teams from 58 universities took part in the competition. 'DIU_Primitive' solved 6 problems out of 11 in the five hour long contest. Ragib Ali, Chairman, Board of Trustees of North South University, was present as the chief guest in the closing and award giving ceremony and handed over crests to the winners.
Green University
Celebrates Victory Day
Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) celebrated the Victory Day on December 16, 2013 amid much merriment. Their programmes included placing wreaths at the National Memorial at Savar, discussion, film screening, inauguration of club fair, certificates distribution and a colourful cultural programme. Former Justice and Bhasha Shainik, Kazi Ebadul Hoque was present as special guest at the programme, while GUB Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir presided over it. Students and faculty members of GUB placed wreaths at the National Memorial early in the morning. Later, the Vice Chancellor inaugurated GUB Club Fair at university campus. Faculty members, staff and a large number of students were present at the ceremony.
