BNP blasts PM for ‘blatant lie’

BNP this evening lambasted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her statement that Khaleda Zia was not confined to her Gulshan office.
“What the prime minister said today at a rally is nothing but delirium, blatant lie and deception with people. People know it very well that how police besieged the BNP chairperson by locking main gate of her office and keeping sand laden trucks on the roads in front of it,” BNP Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed said.
Talking to some reporters from an undisclosed location, he said Sheikh Hasina has deceived people through her blatant lies. “It seems that she considers the country’s people nonsense and they do not understand anything. We condemn and protest the PM’s such comments.”
Addressing a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan this afternoon, Hasina said, “She (Khaleda) is not confined. She can go to her residence if she wants, but she will not go.”
Khaleda has been kept confined to her office since January 3.
Rizvi alleged that the current government is governing the country resorting to terrorism, enforced disappearances, killings and repressive acts.
“It’s clear to people who are indulging in terrorism and who are the masterminds of terrorist acts.”
The BNP spokesman claimed that the “illegal’ regime is running the country without people’s mandate after usurping the state power.
“We want to clearly state that this regime won’t be able to prolong its misrule. They will have to face dire consequences for their misdeeds,” Rizvi said.
He also condemned and protested the arrests of BNP chairperson’s adviser Shamsuzzaman Dudu, BNP Joint Secretary General M Shahjahan, Assistant Office Secretary Shamimur Rahman Shamim and executive committee member Belal Ahmed.
