BCL men beat up leader at DU
A central leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student front of Awami League, was beaten up by his rival group at Shahbagh intersection in Dhaka this afternoon.
The incident took place centering a feud over drug business.
Mahbub Khan, a BCL central committee member, was admitted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
According to sources at the student body, Mahbub and Shamsul Kabir Rahat, BCL joint general secretary, got into a quarrel with Nishita Iqbal Nodee and Moharak Hossain, presidents of Shamsunnahar Hall and Surya Sen Hall of the BCL.
At one stage, Moharak and Nodee’s supporters swooped on Mahbub, leaving him critically injured.
Nodee and Moharak have been operating a drug racket on the DU campus, sources at the university told The Daily Star Online.
