Bangladesh re-elected ITU executive member
Bangladesh has been elected a executive member of International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for the second time.
"We are very happy to be elected as a executive member state of ITU," Sunil Kinti Bose, chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission, told The Daily Star from South Korea this morning over phone.
Bangladesh has been a member of ITU's governing body for the last four years.
A total of 17 counties took part in the election for electing members of 13-member union for Asia and Oceania zone of the ITU, a United Nations agency.
The election was held at South Korea this morning, said Md Swarwar Alam, secretary of BTRC.
Bangladesh got 115 votes as 176 votes have been cast out of total 193, he further said.
