BNP today said it sees a victory as the Election Commission (EC) has given back candidatures to some of its heavyweight candidates in contesting the December 30 national election.
“Our most of leaders have got justice during hearing on their appeals. I expect that Khaleda Zia would be announced as a valid candidate if justice is established,” BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said.
He also thanked the EC for ensuring the justice and called upon it to stop the arrest of his party men for the sake of creating a level-playing field ahead of the national polls.
Talking to reporters at party Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office in Dhaka this evening, Fakhrul said the government is using the state mechanism as it has become afraid ahead of the election.
Claiming that the national election will have to be held in a transparent manner in light of the constitution, Fakhrul said the government is “interfering the election process illegally with an evil motive”.
