BNP pledges VAT exemption for students

BNP, in its election manifesto unveiled today, vows to exempt students from all kinds of value added tax (VAT) if voted to power.

It also promised to withdraw all the cases filed against students during the protests over VAT exemption, quota reform and road safety movements.

Moreover, the party pledged to allocate 5 per cent of national GDP for education sector if voted to power.

Higher education will be rich in excellence of knowledge, science and technology, the party said in its manifesto.

World class universities will be built and a dedicated TV channel will be opened for developing and spreading education, it added.  

Besides, like Jatiya Oikyafront, BNP also announced to scrap PEC and JSC examinations if voted to power.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today unveiled the election manifesto of the party ahead of the 11th national elections slated to be held on December 30.
