Open Call submission date extended
Artopolitan, an art organisation promoting visual arts and artists of the world, and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in association with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, The Daily Star, Prothom Alo and Channel i are jointly organising a fortnight long (February 23-March 09) international art exhibition titled 'Celebrating Mother Language in the Light of Art' at the National Art Gallery, BSA, marking the International Mother Language Day (February 21) 2019.
The purpose of holding the exhibition is to pay homage to the Language Movement Martyrs who laid down their lives in 1952.
An open call is now under way and will conclude tomorrow (February 8). Artists aged above 18 can submit their visual arts, irrespective of media, themed on celebrating their mother languages and distinct cultures. The organisers will confer several awards to the best participating artists. They will also honour an eminent Bangladeshi artist with a lifetime achievement award. The curating of the exhibition will be based on proper research with modern and contemporary approaches.
Visual artists and architects from 30 countries including Bangladesh, Australia, Spain, Japan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, India, Germany, Iran, Thailand, Brunei, USA, Mexico, Bhutan, China, Mongolia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Austria, Morocco, UAE, Russia and others are joining this event, shedding light on celebrating Mother Language through visual art.
