Songs of soul

As part of the month long programmes marking National Mourning Day 2016, a three day (August 11-13) gathering of 155 Bauls concluded yesterday at National Art Gallery Plaza of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

The Baul singers performed songs of Fakir Lalon Shai at the event. They presented songs on the themes of “Shob Lok-e Koy Lalon Ki Jaat Shongshar-e”, “Manush Bhojle Sonar Manush Hobi” and “Satya Bol Supoth-e Chol Orey Amar Mon” on August 11, 12 and 13 respectively.

A discussion on preserving Baul Sangeet was also held on August 13. The artistes will bring out a rally and march towards Central Shaheed Minar rendering songs of humanity on August 14.
