AL factional clash leaves one dead

An Awami League activist was killed and 15 others were injured in a clash between two factions of the ruling party in Lepshia Bazar area of Khaliajuri upazila in Netrakona yesterday afternoon.
The deceased was Habibur Rahman, 28, a local AL activist.
Locals said there had been a longstanding dispute between Takwa union AL leaders Kuddus and Khalil over establishing their dominance in the area.
On Thursday, an altercation took place between their supporters over a trivial matter. Following this, the groups with locally made weapons clashed.
The injured were rushed to local clinics.
Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge of Khaliajuri Police Station, confirmed the incident.
