4 'criminals' hurt in Jessore gunfight

Four alleged criminals were injured in a gunfight between their gang and Detective Branch (DB) of police in Bablatala Bridge area on the edge of Jessore district town on Friday night.
The injured are Rumon, Rhidoy, Anik and Sohan.
Maniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Jesore DB police, said acting on secret information that a gang of criminals, led by Rumon, was preparing to commit criminal activities in the area, a team of DB police went there.
Sensing the presence of the DB police, the criminals opened fire, prompting the law enforcers to fire back, triggering a gunfight.
The criminals also hurled three bombs during the incident.
After the gun battle that continued for a while, police arrested four members of the gang, including Rumon, with bullet injuries while the others managed to flee.
Police recovered a shutter gun, one bullet and three bombs from their possession.
The injured criminals were rushed to Jessore 250-bed Hospital.
The criminals were wanted in several cases including those for snatching.
