BNP men behind irregularities in 3 city polls: Joy
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy has alleged that BNP activists were conducting irregularities in the elections to the three city corporations -- Rajshahi, Sylhet, and Barisal -- held today.
Joy posted a video clip this evening where BNP mayoral candidate for Rajshahi city polls Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul was seen threatening an electoral official "for doing her job and stopping people from stuffing ballots for him".
"The only election irregularities are being carried out by the BNP themselves," Joy said in the Facebook post.
"We have all heard recorded conversations of BNP leaders plotting this in Gazipur and Rajshahi previously. This is more of the same," he said.
Joy, also the PM's son, claimed that a group of people wearing Awami League badges and chanting the party's slogans caused disruptions in a few places.
"Why would our activists identifying themselves with our badges disrupt elections that we are sure to win? The Awami League is not that incompetent!" Joy wrote in another post in his verified Facebook page.
"As we suspected, these are BNP activists wearing Awami League badges as they were stamping ballots for the BNP!"
"They are either hoping they can stamp enough ballots to make a difference or in an effort to discredit these elections. They are doing this because they know they are going to lose," he wrote.
Joy also called upon the Election Commission and law enforcement to take strong action against them.
