25 doped in a day in capital
Drugging gangs robbed a large amount of cash, 10 cattle and a truck from 25 persons, mostly traders, in several incidents in the capital Dhaka and its outskirts yesterday.
Except for two who were treated at an Araihazar hospital in Narayanganj, all of the victims were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
People at Rupnagar Eastern Housing cattle market found unconscious two groups of cattle traders, seven around 2:30am and eight around 4:00am. It is suspected that their meal, which they cooked themselves, had been spiked with sedatives.
The first group found Tk 1.57 lakh missing while none of the second have regained consciousness for which their loss is yet to be known.
Another group of five cattle traders had been forced to take sedatives by a gang of some seven to eight robbers who had used a truck to stop theirs at Araihazar in the early hours while the former were coming towards the capital from Comilla.
The criminals then fled with the truck containing 10 cattle, claimed to be worth around Tk 12 lakh, after throwing the traders, driver and helper out on the road.
The remaining five victims, including two cattle traders, were involved in four separate incidents around in the capital, said DMCH sources.
