1 lakh yaba tablets seized, 7 held in Cox’s Bazar

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) detained seven people and seized around 1 lakh pieces of yaba tablets from Cox’s Bazar this afternoon.
On information, a team of Rab conducted an operation in Kolatoli Beach area in the Bay of Bengal and seized a trawler carrying the contrabands items around 4:00pm, said Lt Col Mistah Uddin, commanding officer of Rab-7.
Talking to The Daily Star online over phone, he said the items worth around Tk 4 crore were being smuggled into the country from Myanmar.
The detainees -- Shafiullah, 45, Didar, 35, Mojibor Rahman, 32, Hossain Ahmed, 32, Ziaur Rahman, 20, Nurul Boshor, 35, and Lal Mia, 25, -- are the residents of Maheshkhali in Cox’s Bazar.
