Woman kills mother-in-law in Chittagong

A woman allegedly killed her mother-in-law in Barumchhara area in Anwara upazila on Tuesday night.

The deceased is Sohag Khatun, 55, wife of Fazlul Haque of the area.

Police arrested the alleged killer Nayem Uddin Liza, 20, wife of Jashim Uddin in this connection.

Locals said, Liza and her mother-in-law Sohag went to bed around 8:00pm, as her husband used to stay at his workplace in Sitakunda upazila.

Hearing the groaning around 10:00pm, neighbours rushed to their house and found Liza standing beside slain Sohag with a knife in her hand.

Kamal Hossain, inspector (Investigation) of Anwara Police Station, said they were trying to investigate the motive behind the killing.

Away in Bogra, a housewife was killed in a wall collapse at Panditpara village in Nandigram upazila on Wednesday morning.

The deceased is Shefaly Begum, 36, wife of Nurul Islam, a newspaper- hawker and resident of the village.
