West Indies pull out of India tour
West Indies are to pull out of their current tour of India because of a payment dispute between the players and their cricket board.
The teams were scheduled to play a five-match one-day international series, a one-off Twenty20 international and three Test matches.
But the tour will come to an end at the conclusion of Friday's fourth one-day international in Dharamsala.
India will now face Sri Lanka in a replacement five-match ODI series.
Venues and dates for that series are yet to be confirmed.
West Indies players have been in dispute with the West Indies Players' Association (WIPA) over the signing of a new collective bargaining agreement and memorandum of understanding.
It would see sponsorship payments reallocated to fund the wider professional game in the islands.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said it was "shocked and extremely disappointed" after being advised West Indies players would be returning home immediately after Friday's game.
"The withdrawal gives little thought to the future of the game, the players and the long-standing relations between the BCCI and the WICB," added honorary secretary Sanjay Patel.
"This is a unilateral decision taken by the WICB and its players, in spite of several appeals to the WICB to honour its commitment and complete the series."
The ODI series is tied 1-1 after Tuesday's third match in Visakhapatnam was abandoned because of Cyclone Hudhud.
In 2009, the WIPA and WICB were involved in a similar dispute when 13 leading players, including captain Chris Gayle, went on strike and missed a two-Test series at home to Bangladesh.
Bangladesh won both Tests to record only their second-ever series win.
