NCP demands arrests of AL march participants in Khulna

The Khulna chapter of the National Citizen Party (NCP) has demanded the immediate arrests of all individuals who participated in the processions organised by the Awami League (AL) in various parts of Khulna city within 24 hours.

The party has also condemned the administration's "silent role" in response to the marches.

The demand was made at a press conference held at Khulna Press Club today.

A written statement was read out at the event by NCP Khulna leaders Ahmad Hamim Rahat and Abdullah Chowdhury.

They alleged that despite these surprise marches by the ruling party, seemingly aimed at instilling fear among the public, law enforcement agencies remained passive, which they described as a violation of the rule of law.

The NCP leaders warned that if the administration fails to take immediate action against these destabilising activities, the party would be compelled to announce stronger protest programmes.

The NCP also called upon all democratic, progressive, and patriotic forces to set aside differences and unite against this regressive force in the greater interest of the nation.

The party criticised the absence of a strong political unity, which they claimed had prevented the formal banning of such groups, allowing them to distort history and mislead the younger generation.

"This ongoing situation poses a serious threat to national security and the ideals of independence," the NCP statement said.

"Those who believe in democracy, the spirit of the July uprising, and the liberation war must unite without delay."

The NCP issued a warning to the interim administration: "If you do not immediately take steps to outlaw this terrorist organisation, be prepared to face a massive wave of protests."
