Auction of wearable art

To celebrate 50 years of Franco-German friendship, a workshop was conducted for a group of individuals, under the guidance of internationally renowned designers -- Bibi Russell, Sakina M'Sa and Michael Sontag. The original, stylish, elegant, ethno-fashion collection designed by the young, local designers will now be on sale. The proceeds of the auction will be donated to a charity working to alleviate the suffering of the victims of the Rana Plaza tragedy.

Celebrating milestones in Bengali cinema

The EMK Center invites you to come and watch some of the greatest Bengali movies that are considered milestones in our cinema history. These films reflect our struggle for independence, our daily social struggles and our national psyche. They will also represent the work of great luminaries of the local cinema movement, such as Zahir Raihan, Tarek Masud, Humayun Ahmed, Raushan Zamil, and others.

Dance presentation

Thomas Lehmen, born in 1963, works as freelance choreographer, dancer and teacher. His returning interests are communications and the human beings which reflect themselves in their surroundings and actively create these with creative relations.
This German choreographer has been travelling through Europe and Asia since April 2013. At every station, he has worked with different people that he had meet on his way, creating theatrical “presents”. Every “present” thereby was unique, as the themes and the ideas come out of the dialogue of the presenter and the artists.
In this event, the outcome of the Dhaka workshop will be presented to the audience.

Exhibition of works by Nurun Naher Supti

Artist Nurun Naher Supti tries to express the untold smothering feelings felt by women. She has used her daily experiences and realizations as material for her work. Being a female artist, it has become easy for her to translate the inner words into paintings. The use of different kind of media helps her to display those expressions vividly, which are widely seen in our families and society. Through her paintings, she wishes to introduce the hindrances plaguing women. She hopes such endeavour will help to stir conscious minds to extend their benevolent hands to deprived women.

Eternal Japan

Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts and daily Prothom Alo invite you to the inauguration of a five day long photography exhibition by Japan based journalist Monzurul Huq titled 'Eternal Japan.' Eminent artist Qayyum Chowdhury will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest and inaugurate the exhibition. Hiroyuki Minami, Minister Counselor, Embassy of Japan, Dhaka and noted cultural activist Aly Zaker will be present as Special Guests.
