Rooftop gardening gaining momentum
Since the coronavirus outbreak disrupted the daily lives of most city dwellers back in 2020, they resorted to rooftop gardening as a form of spending time in nature.
Now, with the government offering a 10% discount on holding tax for property owners to grow rooftop gardens, the number of rooftop gardens in high-rise buildings is set to increase.
The property owners who grow rooftop gardens in areas that fall under the city corporation and municipal territories across the country will benefit from the newly offered discount.
Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam initially introduced the concept of a tax rebate for rooftop gardening to combat the deadly heat waves that recently swept the country.
