Shanghai Disney Resort is making its second major expansion in less than three years of operation, signaling the ambition of media conglomerate The Walt Disney Co to meet China's growing appetite for quality themed entertainment.
Two latest Hollywood animation films “Kung Fu Panda 3” and “Zootopia” have hit screens in Dhaka at the same time. The two films opened at Star Cineplex in the city's Bashundahra City Shopping Mall on Friday.
The Disney Animation title has earned $232.5 million worldwide already, over the weekend, Zootopia garnered rave reviews and launched to a record $73.7 million from 3,827 theaters in North America, the top showing ever for Disney Animation Studios.
"Kung Fu Panda 3" punched "The Revenant" back to its second place spot over the weekend. The animated sequel brought in a robust $41.3 million — which is a franchise low, but nonetheless a healthy showing in a generally slow time of the year at the box office. "Kung Fu Panda 3" will also have animated family film territory to itself until "Zootopia" opens in March.
