Rajshahi beat Dhaka by nine wickets
Dhaka Platoon suffered a nine-wicket thumping at the hands of Rajshahi Royals in the third match of the ongoing Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today.
An unbeaten 47-ball 56 from opener Hazratullah Zazai and another unbeaten run-a-ball 36 from all-rounder Shoaib Malik helped Rajshahi Royals chase down the 134 for nine posted by Dhaka Platoon. Zazai's blitz that included five fours and three maximums helped Rajshahi romp to victory with 10 balls and nine wickets to spare.
Earlier, some late hitting from Wahab Riaz and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza took Dhaka Platoon to 134 for nine in the first innings of their Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League match against Rangpur Royals the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. Tamim Iqbal opened the innings, returning from a short break that saw him miss the series against India. However, he failed to fire and was dismissed by Abu Jayed for just five runs. That trend continued for much of the Dhaka innings as none of their batsmen could really get going. Anamul Haque made a team-high 33-ball 38 but the biggest hitter on the team, Shahid Afridi, was out for a golden duck. Another firebrand, Thisara Perera, departed for 1. Riaz made an unbeaten 12-ball 19 with two fours and a six while Mashrafe hit two sixes during his 10-ball 18. Rang out captain Andre Russell did a tremendous job with the ball, giving away just eight runs from three overs. Jayed scalped two but gave away 43.
