MSC escape accident after burst tyre
Mohammedan's footballers narrowly escaped a road accident on way to a Federation Cup fixture in Goplaganj after the coaster's front tyre suddenly burst.
The popular team are scheduled to face off against Sheikh Jamal at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj on Tuesday.
One of three team vehicles, which started its journey from the capital, found itself in trouble soon after crossing Bhanga after the tire suddenly burst.
"The bus was carrying 24 footballers and ran into trouble after the tyre burst. But no one got hurt because the experienced driver, Karim, who has been driving Mohammedan's vehicles for more than 30 years, handled the situation and regained control of the bus since it was running at a low speed," Mohammedan manager Imtiaz Ahmed Nakib told The Daily Star, adding that the players reached Gopalganj safely once the tyre was changed.
"We are all safe. The driver controlled the bus well. No one sustained any injuries. We also completed a training session in the afternoon," Shahriar Emon, one of the players on the bus, said.
Replying to a query, Nakib said: "The driver told me he had checked everything before the start of the journey. It only happened because of a burst tyre."
