Bad Boxing Day for captains
Two captains will not have good memories of 2018's Boxing Day Tests. South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis and Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed shared an unwanted world record during the first Test between their teams at Centurion yesterday.
Both captains bagged pairs (getting out for nought in both innings) -- the first instance of it happening in the same Test.
South Africa ran out winners by six wickets but the unwanted record competed with the result in headlines. Never before have two captains gotten out for ducks in each of their individual innings. Du Plessis was the last South Africa batsman to fall today during Proteas' chase of 149 for victory to complete the record.
Meanwhile in Australia, India captain Virat Kohli got out for a rare duck -- just his sixth in 130 innings -- at the MCG. It was clearly not a day to be a Test captain.
