The ‘challenge’ facing Liton

Bangladesh batsman Liton Das capped off a wonderful series with another fifty today as the Tigers clinched a clean sweep in all three formats against Zimbabwe by winning the second T20I against Zimbabwe. Liton struck a fifty in the lone Test before going on to make two ODI hundreds that included a 176 -- the highest knock scored by any Bangladesh batsman in ODIs – and then hit two more fifties in the T20Is to score almost 500 runs in all formats combined against touring Zimbabwe this term.
The batsman admitted that his consistency lay in the fact that he was giving himself the chance to start every innings as if it was a new day. "I have performed before but would get relaxed after scoring in one match. I used to think that since I scored runs in one game, I will be scoring in the next match as well," he said.
This series, he was more focused was starting things from scratch during every new innings. "In this series I thought that every match is a new one. You need only one ball to get out. So, I was more focused and limited my shot selection. It was not like I played aerial shots throughout the series. I was looking to play the deliveries on their merit and had more focus," he reiterated.
He vowed to work harder to continue in this vein of form and reiterated that he would accept the challenge instead of heaping pressure on himself.
"Not pressure. It is harder to grasp something or maintain something. It's easier to let go. The challenge for me is how I can continue performing. The preparations are going to be painful and I will train myself harder," he vowed.
