Tamim scales 7k and Tigers’ highest ODI score peaks

Tamim Iqbal became the first batsman to score seven thousand ODI runs for Bangladesh during his ton against Zimbabwe at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium today. He notched the highest ODI knock for Bangladesh with his 136-ball 158, beating his own previous score of 154 against Zimbabwe in 2009.

The left-hander, batting in his 204th innings, reached the mark in the 27th over with an uppercut off Donald Tiripano that ran away for four. His knock came to an end in the 46th over, holed out at long off to the bowling of Carl Mumba. He struck 20 fours and three sixes during his knock.

Tamim, who started the day on 6916 career ODI runs, hit his first ton in 23 innings following a poor run of form in the ODI format. Tamim also holds the record for the fastest to reach three thousand, five thousand and six thousand-run landmarks for Bangladesh in ODIs.

Bangladesh reached 322 for eight in 50 overs against Zimbabwe in the second ODI following Tamim's knock. The Tigers currently lead the series 1-0.
